GIFT TRILOGY
Three commissioned video installations celebrating female volunteerism.
Gift Trilogy is composed of three video installations – Lick, Lick Blink, Visions and Chant. Each commissioned by a different major institutions they illuminate different groups of female volunteers. They are all collaborations with renowned cinematographer Sandi Sissel ASC. For Lick Lick Blink at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney I collaborated with 120 women from the Older Women's Network NSW to create a work for a cinema that subverts the power of the male gaze in cinema through installation, film and the power of ice-cream. For Visions, at the Art Gallery of South Australia I collaborated with the 300 strong female art gallery volunteers as seers and oracles. For Chant at the Mona Foma Festival I collaborated with Tasmanian women’s sporting groups to re-imagine historic and contemporary feminist protest chants as the soundtrack to their routines.
